WELLENSTEYN

For the daily challenge

WELLENSTEYN, the first authentic “work-wear” jacket for men and women with tested functionality, innovative materials and excellent quality for all situations and areas of use.
In the 1940s, Adolf Wuttke started out as a welding wire dealer in Hamburg, but soon moved into the production of mechanical units for deep-sea research. These units, such as “box grabs” and “plankton sharks”, are still in use today at depths of several thousand meters worldwide.

Adolf Wuttke’s customers have always been among those who needed the most robust, hard-wearing workwear that could survive the toughest conditions – the German shipbuilding industry. At Wuttke in Hamburg, heavy, sea-proof, waxed sailcloth clothing, known as “Deutschleder”, was tailor-made. This led to the development of functional protective clothing that was suitable for working on the high seas, even in stormy weather.
With this specialist knowledge of the performance and ergonomic requirements of perfect protective clothing, Thomas Wuttke began to develop a new generation of jackets in 1998.

WELLENSTEYN – the combination of fashion and function

Today, the WELLENSTEYN jacket is more popular than ever. For use on rough seas or shipyards, for example, the indestructible surf parka, the Cliff jacket, which is ready for use in any weather, or the elegant Schneezauber for the daily challenge in the street canyons of the big cities.
The demand for constant improvement of material, functionality and fashion statement has been a daily challenge for WELLENSTEYN development for generations. The owner himself, who flies to the production sites several times a year, ensures that things stay as they are: optimum fit and top quality!
