The original American premium and lifestyle brand GANT was founded in 1949 in New Haven, Connecticut. Founder Bernard Gantmacher initially made a name for himself as a shirt tailor. For his sporty Oxford shirts, Gantmacher developed many previously unknown details, such as the hanging loop, the box pleat and the third collar button, which are still recognizable features of a classic GANT shirt today.

Based on this success, Bernard Gantmacher and his sons Elliot and Marty formed a complete collection over the years, the first step towards becoming a lifestyle brand. The high quality standards and authentic style gradually secured the GANT brand worldwide recognition. Over the last few decades, the former men’s collection has developed into a total look collection for men, women, kids and home accessories.
